Acharya Prem Swaroop Ji (Legally known as Sanjeet Laljeet Prasad)
Acharya Prem Swaroop Ji is the founder of Swaroop Yogic Life, Rishikesh.
He is a traditional yoga and meditation teacher, known for his simple, grounded way of living and teaching.
He does not present yoga as a performance.
He presents it as a way to live with clarity, sincerity, and respect for life.
Acharya Ji was born and brought up in West Bengal, India. From childhood, he had a natural pull toward spiritual life, silence, and inner enquiry. He began his yoga and meditation journey with many questions: about mind, suffering, and the purpose of life. These questions slowly led him to traditional teachers, ashrams, and lineages across India. In time, he met Maa Shobhana Bharati, from whom he received spiritual initiation. She gave him the name “Acharya Prem Swaroop” – one who teaches from the space of love, one’s true nature.
Acharya Ji’s path is rooted in traditional Himalayan and Vedantic teachings, combined with deep practical training in asana, pranayama, and meditation.
Some key stages of his journey include:
His formal initiation into the Hatha Yoga tradition began at Neyyar Dam, in the Sivananda lineage.
He completed both TTC (Teacher Training Course) and ATTC (Advanced Teacher Training Course) at the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy.
His love for practice took him to Mysore, where he attended classes with K. Pattabhi Jois and explored various forms of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
He later studied Iyengar Yoga in Pune, India, and continued refining his alignment-based approach in Rishikesh under Sri Parveen Nair.
This added a strong therapeutic and precise dimension to his teaching.
His understanding of yoga philosophy and Vedanta deepened when he met Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati in Rishikesh.
He then went on to study Sanskrit and Vedanta in Theni (Madurai) under Swami Sarvananda Saraswati.
Through these journeys, his practice became integrated – combining asana, pranayama, mantra, meditation, and Vedantic clarity.
In 2010, Acharya Ji founded Swaroop Yogic Life in Tapovan, Rishikesh.
His vision was clear:
to create a space where people could experience authentic yoga, without noise, without show, without dilution.
Since then, he has:
Wherever he goes, he keeps the same approach:

He does not push students into extremes.
